Organized in 1932, the Appraisal Institute advocates equal opportunity and nondiscrimination in the appraisal profession and conducts its activities in accordance with applicable federal, state and local laws. Individuals of the Appraisal Institute benefit from an array of professional education and advocacy programs, and may hold the prestigious MAI, SRPA, SRA, AI-GRS, and AI-RRS designations.
Organized in May 1950, the Utah Chapter of the Appraisal Institute maintains a membership in excess of 346 appraisers. The chapter is a vibrant element of Utah’s appraisal industry. In its effort to support the advancement of professionalism and ethics, the chapter sponsors educational courses, encourages effective and ongoing training and works closely with the Utah Division of Real Estate Division to monitor appraisal practices, supervise the licensing process and administer disciplinary actions when needed.
The chapter also sponsors various social events centered around Utah’s beautiful and diverse recreational opportunities, including annual golf tournaments, ski outings, a symposium in St. George, a Christmas Party and an Installation Banquet. These functions provide members with an opportunity to rub shoulders with other appraisers who are interested in elevating the industry and creating opportunities for service. Through the chapter’s committees, it is effective in public relations and political action issues that are important to the interests of Utah’s real estate industry. Working closely with organizations such as the Board of Realtors, Home Builder’s Association and the Utah Bankers Association, it represents an important and dynamic component of a strong coalition to protect property rights, support ethical conduct and promote financial responsibility in Utah’s real estate industry.
